What is Wolfjam?

Wolfjam is a 48-hour game development hackathon hosted by Wolfjaw Studios at the University at Albany ETEC Building. Industry professionals come together to build games, tools, apps, and creative projects from scratch. Whether you're a first-time hacker or a seasoned developer, Wolfjam is your weekend to create something awesome!

Everything you need to know about Wolfjam 2026.

Wolfjam is a 48-hour game development hackathon where participants build games, tools, and creative projects from scratch and present them to judges.

Anyone! Students, professionals, hobbyists, and industry folks are all welcome. You do not need to be a game developer — artists, writers, musicians, and designers are all valuable team members.

No. You can register solo and find a team at the event during our team-building exercises, or connect with others on our Discord server beforehand.

Participant tickets are free. A General Admission / Showcase Pass may be available for non-participants who want to attend the award ceremony and showcase.

We offer three ticket types:

  • Wolfjam Hackathon Participant — For those participating in the 48-hour hackathon in person. Includes full access to all workspaces, workshops, talks, and the award showcase.
  • Wolfjam Hackathon Participant: Remote — For those participating in the hackathon from home. Compete remotely and submit your project for judging.
  • Wolfjam Showcase Pass Only — For those who want to attend the networking, workshops, and talks but are not competing. Perfect for industry folks, supporters, and anyone curious about what we're building.

We will have team formation activities at the start of the event to help you connect with other participants. You can also use our Discord server to find teammates ahead of time — join here.

The ETEC (Engineering and Computer Science) Building at the University at Albany offers state-of-the-art facilities for Wolfjam participants, including large open collaboration spaces, computer labs, and a dedicated event hall.

Getting There

  • Driving: Take I-90 to Exit 4 (Washington Ave / UAlbany). Follow Western Ave to campus.
  • Parking: Lot 1 and Collins Circle Garage — free on-campus parking available during the event.
  • Bus: CDTA Route 12 (Western Ave) stops directly on campus. Amtrak Albany-Rensselaer station is ~3 miles away.
